The Building Code applies to the construction, alteration, modification, addition, replacement, repair, equipment, use and occupancy, location, maintenance, removal and demolition of buildings and structures in the City.
This code book also contains the first five chapters of the new Title 28 of the New York City Administrative Code that govern all of the new construction codes, covering administration, enforcement, maintenance obligations, licensing, and miscellaneous provisions, including outdoor signs. Additional administrative provisions applicable to the precise matters covered by the Building Code can be found in its Chapter 1.
This is part of the New York City Construction Codes effective July 1, 2008. The other code books are Plumbing, Mechanical and Fuel Gas.
