Whimsical, four pinback buttons each depicting a design for a Central Park tile.
Just the thing to brighten up a jean jacket, a back pack, or a lapel. Each button is 1.5 inches in diameter. Made in USA. Part of our exclusive collection 'From the Archives'.

These designs were created by Jacob Wrey Mould, one of the three original architects of Central Park, for encaustic tiles to be used for decoration within the Park. Dated from 1869, the original designs were executed in pen and ink with watercolor washes and would have been used to lay out the color composition for the tile maker.
The Department of Parks collections at the New York City Municipal Archives include the original plans for Central Park, one of the most important public works achievements of the 19th century. The collection consists of more than 1,500 drawings showing the design and construction of all aspects of the park between 1850 and 1880.
